Mothers' Experience of Elementary Students Diagnosed H1N1 Influenza

Abstract
Objectives
The purpose of this study was to identify Mothers' experience of elementary students diagnosed H1N1 in the year 2009 of the H1N1 outbreak to improve capabilities of the Government, local community and individual for a next infectious disease outbreak.
Methods
A phenomenological approach was used for this study. Data were collected using in- depth telephone interviews. Study participants were 6 mothers whose elementary children had diagnosed H1N1. The method proposed by Giorgi (1985) was used to guide the process of data analysis.
Results
After comparative analysis, the core category was "H1N1 infection", "The stuffy actuality" "For getting over H1N1" and "After H1N1 recovery". The participants demonstrated the experience that their children were infected and recovered from H1N1 and the meaning that the sudden outbreak of this novel flu virus disappeared.
Conclusion
To coping with pandemic infectious disease, the health services for isolation and treatment of infectious disease should be provided promptly in collaboration with the government and local community. The competent authorities should offer health care providers specific management and resources without delay. Because of caregiver's absence to carry out home quarantine practically, it is indispensable to support of societies and work places.
