Attitude to Drug Abuse in Middle School Girl Students in Busan

Abstract
Objectives
This study was conducted to investigate attitude of drug abuse and to examine relating factors of drug abuse in middle school girls students, and provide basic guidelines for education of drug abuse prevention in adolescents.
Methods
The study subjects were 246 students from one middle school girls in Busan. The data were collected by self-administered questionnaire between December 1 and December 15, 2002 and they were all agree to participate in this study. Data analyses were performed by using SPSS/win 12.0, descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe’ test, Multiple Stepwise Regression were used for data analysis.
Results
The summary of results was as follows; 1) The mean score of attitude to drug abuse was 0.43±0.34 of full score 3.00, which was a low probability of drug abuse. 2) The factors related with the score of attitude to drug abuse were sense of self- satisfaction (p<0.001), sense of self-value (p<0.01), experience of depression (p<0.05), spending of time on computer (p<0.01), relationship with parents (p<0.001), satisfaction of school-life (p<0.05), relationship with teacher (p<0.05), existence of revered teacher (p<0.05), conception of drug education (p<0.05), experience of smoking (p<0.01).
Conclusions
It is necessary to consider above mentioned relating factors for planing of drug abuse prevention program in adolescents.
