Abstract |
Purpose The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of urinary incontinence andneeds for urinary incontinence intervention education among middle-aged women.
Methods A total of 1085 subjects aged between 40 and 64 were selected using convenientsampling among women who lived in Y city at Gyungki province and S Gu at Seoul. The data werecollected using self-reported questionnaire and were analyzed using SPSS 18.0 program withdescriptive statistics and Chi-squire test.
Results Among middle-aged women 57.6% reported that have experienced urinary incontinence.
The experience of urinary incontinence was significantly associated with marital status (χ2=9.83,p=.002), parity (χ2=5.22, p=.022), regular exercise (χ2=12.09, p=.002), late-night snack (χ2=10.38, p=.001), binge eating (χ2=17.41, p=.001), objective health status (χ2=16.56, p=.002), BMI(t=-2.89, p=.004), WC (t=-2.51, p=.012).
Conclusion Urinary incontinence in middle-aged women is a major health problem to need amanagement. This study suggest further investigations for association among regular exercise,BMI, WC and urinary incontinence, particularly in prospective studies. |
