The Development and Effectiveness of Curriculum Contents for Population Education in University

Abstract
Objectives
The purpose of this study was to develop the education contents of the curriculum for improvement of family values of college students.
Methods
Delphi methodology was used for 26 experts. Three-round Delphi surveys were analyzed using Kendall’s coefficient of concordance W analysis for reliability of consensus opinion on low fertility issues. And a self-administered questionnaires was conducted for 198 college students regarding their needs. Pre-post test for education effects was conducted for 70 students taking the new subject, 'Marriage Childbearing Family Health', for 45 hours in the second semester during a period of 15 weeks. The data were analyzed respectively by descriptive statistics using SPSS 17.0 version.
Results
The attributes of education content were classified with 13 domains and 108 variables,then 11 domains and 67 variables were selected from Kendall’s W analysis, weight and priority score. Finally, 51 contents were developed based on appropriateness. The marriage and childbearing values were significantly different after population education with high satisfaction with the new curriculum.
Conclusions
The developed contents of population education are discriminated and integrated specific education by using of a multi-disciplinary approach strategy in university for resolving low birth rate.
